Blending contemporary and Japanese flower arranging styles guides my sympathy and remembrance arrangements.  Contemporary flower arranging is dynamic and Japanese flower arranging is minimalist, with selected materials and creative shapes.

The two styles can be blended for stunning arrangement.  Contemporary florals can be given a Japanese twist by using minimalistic containers and carefully selected flowers.  Rising Orchid arrangement (shown below)  expresses respect and admiration – in blended ikebana and classic form.

Similarly, Ikebana can gain a modern touch by using unconventional materials and introducing asymmetry.  Blending these styles honors and respects the cultural heritage of Ikebana while embracing contemporary floral design.
