Rising Orchids – Memorial in White and Purple
White phalaenopsis with purple dendrobium arrangement was designed this morning for a memorial gathering at the Tiburon Peninsula Club this afternoon.
This is a variation on my earlier Rising Orchid arrangement in white and green. The dominant white in the original design was reflective of Japanese memorial colors. This design is more Westernized.
Orchid Baskets – Make Way…
Something else had to go to the photo archives to display more Orchid Basket designs,
And several other floral designs got moved around on the web pages. That’s the way it is in cyberspace.
Here are two floral design photographs that went for a rest in this shuffle:
The smaller one, on the left, will probably make a come-back soon because it has fall colors and it is fall.
The large arrangement on the right is a designer’s favorite, and we would like to find a new place for it on the website.
Below are the newly displayed Orchid Baskets with live phalaenopsis arranged with fresh cuts of leaves, flowers, mosses, berries, branches. Yukiko crafts each design differently in the studio – after all, that’s what “original” means.

We Took Down This Picture…
Ikebana with Bamboo and Dogwood – seasonal supply of dogwood is presently difficult.

Ikebana of Orchids in October – designed with green cymbidium with phalaenopsis accent.
To have a place for every unique ikebana design by Yukiko, we are expanding our Ikebana Gallery to include online resources from Flickr.
As we develop this approach we will keep you informed through this blog.
Roses with Phalaenopsis and Hydrangea – September Flowers
This September bouquet gathers autumn colored roses with white phalaenopsis, green anthuriums and blue hydrangea in a tall design; green equisetum (horsetails) emphasizes its height, and curly willow wraps the outside of the sturdy glass vase. This varied arrangement expresses a fulsome presence.
The white phalaenopsis, off-center as it is, creates an eccentric touch to this robust and otherwise symmetrical design.
