Summer branches catch the light…

White Peonies Ikebana with summer branches

Branches catch summer light in the studio

Old world craftsman’s hand and eye.

Light reflecting on the yellow viburnum recalls classical botanical illustrations of the 18th Century, hand-colored engravings and mezzotints.  Yukiko created this ikebana in the last week of May, and Peter photographed it with a Fuji Finepix S2 Pro and edited the digital raw file in Photoshop CS. Its web optimized jpg image is posted here on the blog Floral Design by Yukiko.

Your work is lovely, and original in such a beautiful way. I found your site by accident, searching the web as I often do for photos of Ikebana arrangements. I crave the beauty of Ikebana, and you have rewarded me with your art. So I thank you, for your work of creating, for your love of flowers, and for sharing your talent with others!
