White Peonies Ikebana with summer branches

Branches catch summer light in the studio

Old world craftsman’s hand and eye.

Light reflecting on the yellow viburnum recalls classical botanical illustrations of the 18th Century, hand-colored engravings and mezzotints.  Yukiko created this ikebana in the last week of May, and Peter photographed it with a Fuji Finepix S2 Pro and edited the digital raw file in Photoshop CS. Its web optimized jpg image is posted here on the blog Floral Design by Yukiko.

Floral Design Breakout!

February 26th, 2007

LogoYukiko2inchI’m a floral designer, an artistic florist, and this is my blog on the artistry of flower arranging - ikebana, tropical and contemporary styles.
My studio is a working atelier for ikebana and flower arranging. I can deliver the arrangements I make only to nearby clients in Marin County and San Francisco neighborhoods. Now, this blog enables me to share floral designs and the artistry of designing with everyone on the internet who shares my passion.

In my studio I create original floral designs, blending ikebana, tropical and contemporary styles. So, this website is dedicated to the artistry of flower arranging - presenting pictures, descriptions and commentaries on the design of ikebana, tropical and contemporary floral arrangements. I will add posts of new designs two or three times a week — posting new flower arrangement photos with specifications and comments.

This new blog form on this website enables you to comment on any design by posting directly on this website.

So, welcome, and watch what comes next. And then, please comment!
